The experience in Hanoi
Myrrl and her friends had a wonderful trip to Vietnam with great experiences in beautiful places. Hanoi was the first stop on their wonderful journey. We gathered in the hotel lobby to greet each other before starting our tour of Hanoi. Below are some of the beautiful places and memorable pictures we visited during our trip.
Ho Chi Minh Complex
This complex is a must-see destination for Vietnamese people and one of the most popular destinations for foreign tourists. We had the opportunity to visit the Mausoleum and pay tribute to Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of Vietnam. We also visited the Ho Chi Minh relic site including the stilt house, fish pond and garden. This is where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked for 15 years until his death in 1969. Through these relics, we learned more about his great life.
Tran Quoc Pagoda
With a history of nearly 1500 years, Tran Quoc is one of the oldest pagodas in Hanoi. It was originally located on the alluvial shore of the Red River. Confronted with the riverbank’s severe erosion, the pagoda was relocated in 1615 to an islet (current location) surrounded by the West Lake. Tran Quoc has undergone several restorations. The beauty of this pagoda is a great combination of architecture and peaceful scenery of the West Lake. It becomes one of our highlights on tour.
Hoa Lo Prison Historical Relic
Hoa Lo was built by the French in 1896 to detain criminals and political prisoners. It was later used to detain American pilots from 1964 to 1973. After the reunification of Vietnam, to meet the city’s development needs, two-thirds of the prison was demolished to build a residential and commercial building, while the remaining part was retained as a historical monument.
Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam
The name means Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy. The Temple of Literature was built in 1070 and is a famous temple dedicated to Confucius. It is also home to the Royal Academy, considered the first university in Vietnam from 1076 to 1779. Despite many ups and downs over the centuries, this complex still preserves many important artifacts. The Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy is a historical relic that holds an important position in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people. This is the place to educate generations about the spirit of respecting teachers and the value of learning.
